Life is a never-ending learning experience. Learning, when, as it should be understood, is unlimited, even though it habitually focuses on short-term, immediate concerns. The amazing website of the Speech Fluency is nowhere as evident to our unprecedented access to technology information. Therefore, our ability to connect, share and exchange information with people who stutter is a strong net positive for both humanity and decent life.
The therapeutic program used in the application is called ‘speech-hand-synchronization approach’ (SHS). SHS is a hybrid approach that integrates several different therapeutic techniques and processes used to treat stuttering, such as hand movements (HM), prolonged speech (PS) (Onslow, Jones, O’Brian, & Menzies, 2007), fluency shaping approaches (e.g., Ryan, 2000), self evaluation, habits and paradigm shift (e.g., Buzan, 2001 & Covey, 1984). These deal with the attitudinal and emotional stuttering aspects.
The SHS approach can be described as cognitive/behavioural treatment for persons suffering with persistent developmental stuttering. This particular approach based on MSc dissertation (MMU; 2010) and PhD thesis (UoR; 2014). Additionally, it is been presented by the researcher in Oxford Dysfluency Conference (ODC), which is the most prestigious conference within the field of disorders of fluency, and attendees come from across the globe. In 2013, also, the SHS has presented at Basic Science and Stuttering: Research for Clinicians symposium in Croatia.
